Places & People
ArcticKnows works across four pilot areas — Lake Inari area (Finland), Varangerfjord (Norway), Vindelälven-Juhttátahkka (Sweden) and Kujataa (Greenland) — to co-create regenerative livelihoods and fairer decision-making with local costal and Indigenous communities.

The project focuses on challenges linked to tourism, fisheries, agriculture, climate change, and the inclusion of local and Indigenous knowledge in public planning.
The pilot areas are the heart of ArcticKnows action.
In Greenland, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, local and Indigenous communities, researchers, public authorities, businesses, and civil society actors work together to co-create knowledge and explore pathways towards more regenerative Arctic economies.
Each pilot starts from local realities, while connecting them to wider regional and international questions around climate adaptation, environmental justice, livelihoods, and participation in decision-making.
